Around him was the largest group of children I had ever seen. I (Rasullulah ﷺ) said to Jibril, " What is this? Who are they? " ... "He replied, " As for the tall man, that is Ibrahim P.B.U.H. As for the children around him, it is all the children who passed away upon the fitrah (i.e. they passed away young). Some of the Companions asked, "What about the children of polytheists?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Even the children of the polytheists." Sahih Bukhari 45/9 This encounter takes place during Mikraj where Rasulullah ﷺ ascend to the heavens. Its a beautiful hadith and an assuring reminder for parents who lost their children at a young age (before fitrah) - knowing that our little angels are running around in Allah's garden with other children and Prophet Ibrahim AS. It is not necessary to do aqiqah if you had a miscarriage, but if you'd still like to, we can arrange inshaAllah.
  • What is Nazar and how does one perform Nazar?
Nazar is obligated (wajib) upon someone who has made an intention (between him/her and Allah) to perform nazar - sacrifice (qurban) an animal, if he has attained what he desires. For e.g: Abu made an intention that if his house application is successful, (with Allah's guidance and will) he will sacrifice a goat. Biiznillah, his house application is successful. It is obligated upon Abu to perform nazar or hire a representative (wakil) to do on his behalf; if he is unable to sacrfice the animal himself. Intention/niat: "Sengaja aku tunaikan nazar, dengan penyembelihan seekor kambing, kerana Allah SWT"
  • What is the difference between Aqiqah, Nazar & Qurban?"
Qurban Eidul Adha is held during the 10th - 13th days of the month Dzul-Hijjah and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim AS' sacrifice of his son, Prophet Ismail AS, to Allah SWT. A person purchase a goat or a cow or a camel with the intention that "I bought this animal for sacrifice" then it is obligatory for him /her to slaughter (or hire a representative/wakil) the animal as a sacrifice during Eidul Adha. Aqiqah is pledged upon a child - which an animal is sacrificed on his behalf on the child's 7th day. It is a sunnah, recommended by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
  • What is Qurban Eidul Adha and it's significance?
Qurban Eidul Adha is held during the 10th - 12th days of the month Dzul-Hijjah and is celebrated worldwide each year. It honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim AS to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail AS as an act of obedience to Allah's command. Before Prophet Ibrahim AS could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. Allah mentions in the Quran: "So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice), And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! You have indeed shown the truth of the vision; surely thus do We reward the doers of good: Most surely this is a manifest trial. And We ransomed him with a Feat sacrifice (i.e. a ram)." (As-Saffat 37: 103 – 106) A person purchase a goat or cow or a camel with the intention that "I bought this animal for sacrifice" then it is obligatory for him /her to slaughter (or hire a representative/wakil) the animal as a sacrifice during Eidul Adha. In Islam, Muslims are taught to slaughter the animals the most humane way. We start with saying ﷽ at the time of slaughter. Most of the meat from qurban is given away to others. Performing qurban is an act of piety to Allah SWT as mentioned in the Quran: "It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him." (Al-Hajj 22:37) Intention: I am authorising the project administrators to buy the animal, salughter and distribute the meat on my behalf. I perform Qurban for Allah SWT. Niat: Aku memberi kebenaran kepada pentadbir projek untuk membeli, menyembelih haiwan qurban dan mengedarkan daging qurban bagi pihak aku. Sengaja aku menunaikan ibadah Qurban kerana Allah SWT.

  • Prophet Adam AS
Prophet Adam AS was the first man descended by Allah to earth, together with his wife named Hawa (Eve). Prophet Adam is 1 of the 25 Prophets mentioned in the Quran. Allah told the angels about the creation of Adam AS as the human and would become a Khalifah who served to prosper the earth. Allah has mentioned this conversation in the Quran: Remember when your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to place a successive ˹human˺ authority on earth.” They asked Allah, “Will You place in it someone who will spread corruption there and shed blood while we glorify Your praises and proclaim Your holiness?” Allah responded, “I know what you do not know.” Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30 Prophet Adam AS was directly created from clay and his soul was immediately blown by Allah and they (Prophet Adam AS and Hawa) lived in the Paradise. Prophet Adam AS was also equipped with the intellect that makes him able to learn, observe and understand things. The same is evident from the following verses of Quran: "He taught Adam the names of all things, then He presented them to the angels and said, “Tell Me the names of these, if what you say is true?” Surah Al-Baqarah 2:31 They replied, “Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. You are truly the All-Knowing, All-Wise.” Surah Al-Baqarah 2:32 Allah said, “O Adam! Inform them of their names.” Then when Adam did, Allah said, “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you conceal?” Surah Al-Baqarah 2:33 When Allah commanded the angels to prostrate before Adam, Iblis (Shaitan/Devil/Satan) was included in this command. All Angels complied with Allah’s command except for Iblis as he was too arrogant to prostrate before Adam. He said, “I am superior than him. You created me from the fire and created Adam from the clay/mud.” So this act of arrogance by Iblis was the first ever act of disobedience/error/misdeed committed by any of Allah’s creatures. Because of Iblis' arrogance and disobedience to prostrate, Allah punishes him by expelling him from heaven. Iblis arrogantly accepted the punishment of Allah and he only begged Him to be given the opportunity for eternal life until the Day of Judgment. Allah approved his request and Iblis was allowed eternal life until the day of resurrection. Iblis was not grateful but instead he threatened to mislead Adam AS and his descendant from all directions to guide them astray, incite them to forbidden things, tempting them to neglect the religious orders and influence them not to be grateful to Allah for good deeds. Then Allah spoke to the cursed Iblis: Allah commanded, “Then get out of Paradise, for you are truly cursed. And surely upon you is condemnation until the Day of Judgment.” Surah Al-Hijr 34-35 Allah said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. Surah Al-Hijr 41-42 After commanding the angels to prostrate before him, Adam AS was given a place by Allah in heaven and for him created Hawa to accompany him and become his life friend, wife, keeps him company and completing his natural needs to develop offspring. And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers." Surah Al-Baqarah 2:35 This Ayat indicates that Hawa was created before Adam AS entered Paradise. According to many Islamic Scholars, after Allah finished cursing Iblis, Adam AS fell asleep. Then Allah took one of Adam's AS left ribs and made flesh grow in its place, while Adam was asleep and unaware. Allah then created Hawa from Adam’s rib and made her a woman. Adam AS woke up and saw Hawa next to him. When Allah married Adam to Hawa and gave him comfort, Allah said to him directly, "O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the wrongdoers.” The Allah’s statement was basically a test for Adam and Hawa. Adam and Hawa understood that they were forbidden to eat the fruit of that tree. Adam was, however, human and man tends to forget. Iblis grew envious of Adam AS and took advantage of Adam’s humanity to exploit it. But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal." And he swore [by Allah] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors." Surah Al-Arraf 7:20 – 21 Years went by but both of them were preoccupied with the thoughts of that tree. Then one day, they decided to eat the fruit of this tree. Both forgot about Allah’s warning about that tree. Adam AS picked one of its fruit and offered it to Hawa. They both ate the forbidden fruit of the tree. As Quran says: So he brought about their fall through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their nakedness was exposed to them, prompting them to cover themselves with leaves from Paradise. Then their Lord called out to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree and ˹did I not˺ tell you that Satan is your sworn enemy?” Surah Al-Arraf 7:20 – 22 They replied, “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will certainly be losers.” Allah said, “Descend as enemies to each other. You will find in the earth a residence and provision for your appointed stay.” He added, “There you will live, there you will die, and from there you will be resurrected.” Surah Al-Arraf 7:23 – 25 Allah accepted their supplication and gave His forgiveness to them. As mentioned in Quran: Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:37 O children of Adam! We have provided for you clothing to cover your nakedness and as an adornment. However, the best clothing is righteousness. This is one of Allah’s bounties, so perhaps you will be mindful. Surah Al-Arraf 7:26 When descended to Earth, Adam AS and Hawa were then separated in two different places. They both searched for each other till 1 day, they found each other on a hill in the Arabian Peninsula called Jabal Rahmah of Arafat (situated in Saudi Arabia near the city of Makkah). Adam and Hawa eventually gathered and reunited like in heaven. Allah then made Adam AS the first prophet on earth. Adam AS knew that on earth, he had to face conflict and struggle. He had to protect himself, his wife and children from earthly creatures and hardships but above all, he had to struggle with the spirit of evil. The battle between good and evil is a vicious cycle but Adam AS knew that those who follow Allah’s guidance and should fear nothing while those who disobey Allah and follow Satan will be damned along with him. Prophet Adam AS was the one who had to perpetuate, cultivate, construct and populate the earth. Time on Earth went on, Prophet Adam AS grew steadily. Then Adam and Hawa witnessed the birth of their children, a set of twins, Qabil and his sister Iqlima. Later, Hawa gave birth to a second set of twins, Habil and his sister Labuda. Adam and Hawa were blessed with many offspring. Allah decreed the command to Adam to marry the children of the first couple with the second couple in cross, Qabil with Labuda, and Habil with Iqlima. Adam AS then told the Allah’s command to his children. But Qabil was displeased with the partner chosen for him as Habil’s twin sister was not as beautiful as his own. Habil was intelligent, obedient and always ready to the will of Allah as Allah blessed him with purity and compassion. On the other hand, his brother Qabil was arrogant, selfish and disobedient to his Lord. As Qabil did not accept Allah’s command to marry Habil's sister as he wanted to marry his own sister, Qabil, in ager and hatred, struck his brother with stone, killing him instantly. This was the first death and first criminal act committed by man on earth. Qabil, then, buried his brother’s corpse. Allah has mentioned the story of Habil & Qabil in the Quran in Surah Al-Maaidah 5: 27-31. Adam AS was in grief as one of his sons is dead and other was won over by Iblis. At that time, Adam AS was a prophet and he started advising his children and grandchildren, telling them about Allah and calling them to believe in Him. Adam AS told them about Iblis and warned them by describing his own experience with devil. Adam AS also told them how Iblis tempted Qabil to kill his own brother. Further, Adam AS also reminded them that humans have a real and eternal enemy that is Iblis/Syaitan. The devil will never stop and will never give up until the Day of Judgment to bring as many descendants of Adam on the misleading path. After many years, Adam AS grew old. When Adam’s death drew near, he appointed his son Seth, third son of Adam & Hawa, to be his successor. Adam AS taught Seth appropriate acts of worship along with all commands/teachings of Allah. Adam as, the first human being and the first prophet, was also the first prophet to pass away from this world, after having lived for approximately a thousand years. Before his death, Adam AS reassured his children that Allah would not leave man alone on earth but would sent His prophets to guide them. The prophets would have different names, traits and miracles but they would be united in one thing - the call to worship Allah alone. This was Adam‘s AS bequest to his children. Adam AS finished speaking and closed his eyes. Then the Angels entered his room and surrounded him. When Adam AS recognizes the Angle of Death among them, his heart smiled peacefully. Then Angels took Adam’s soul away. According to different narrations, the day Prophet Adam died was Friday. Then they washed and enshrouded him. They put scent on him and dug his grave. They put Adam in grave and then covered the grave with mud-brick. According to different narrations, Hawa died one or two years after the death of Prophet Adam and was buried near him.
